14 July 2005 - Google balances privacy, reach
A good article from CNET News.com that shows how the technology behind Google, and other search engines, can break through the barriers of privacy, and make public what is not suposed to be so public. In this article Elinor Mills (Staff Writer, CNET News.com) shows how much private information one can easily gather by spending 30 minutes or so on internet search. Mills ran a search on Google's CEO, Eric Schmidt and found out Schmidt's age (50), his estimated fortune ($1.5 billion). How much he earned by selling Google's Stock this year in total ($90 million), and also in the last two months ($50 million) while the shares prize reached over $300. Where he lives and much more.
