The Fête de la Musique is a free music festival taking place on June 21, every year in many countries around the world. I have seen it twice, both times in Berlin. I think it is a wonderful idea and I always find it a cool experience. This year Fête de la Musique came on a Tuesday, in Berlin it was a strange day, mostly uncertain whether or not let the rain fall and spoil the party. Eventually only a few drops of rain came down, but no hard showers as it has been the norm in the past two weeks.

During la Fête de la Musique there are concerts everywhere in the city, but unfortunately too little time to see everything. In Berlin, given the size of the city, the best thing to do is to pick a borough and spend most of the time there. This year I picked Friedrichshain and I spent a few hours walking around it. At every corner there was someone playing something. I listened to several performances, some quite good, some quite crap. As usual, for Friedrichshain, the best acts were in the area around Revaler Strasse. Here are some of the pictures I took during my rambling around.
